LEAGUE POSITION  24/24

POST MATCH

I don't know if you watched the game today, but I did, and I genuinely don't think our tactics today were to wear the opposition down and then attack them in the later stages of the game. We started the second half the same as the first, and even once we got level I don't think we really took the initiative until we got the second goal. If it wasn't for two, quite frankly lucky goals, we could easily be talking about how we shouldn't be losing to teams at the bottom of the league.
......................

Blackpool raised their game today and made it hard for us, but we stuck to our game and came through in the end. The own goal was a bit of luck, but it was luck we forced by having players threatening in the box. Grabban's second goal wasn't a huge deflection as some have said - it was a shot on target which IMO would have gone in without the deflection, which is why he has been credited with the goal.
.......................

Feel for the Blackpool fans, I really do. If my club had been mismanaged to the point where Nile Ranger was playing for us, a disgrace to football in my eyes, then I'd be pretty upset. A moral for what the evil money of the premier League can do to a club. Worries me greatly.
..........................

It did feel like Marriner was giving them the majority of decisions until the second half when it evened out. but crikey Miller and Ranger are big units.
.........................

I hope they stay up, albeit not under the current ownership. How they can live with themselves 'trousering' £11 mill in salaries and £20 mill diverted into their own businesses before spending a penny on the squad is outrageous ........... good luck to them anyhows and to Joe Lewis - hope they do well this season
.....................

PRE MATCH

A must win game really with how the last couple of games have gone I'd say (Cup included). Blackpool have only scored 3 league goals so far this season, so if there has ever been a chance for our defence to keep a clean sheet and regain some form/confidence, now is the time.
...................................................

This'll be tight, I expect they'll put 11 behind the ball and try and nick a 1-0.
.................................................

Blackpool appear to be getting their act together now, so will certainly not be the push over they were a few games ago.
.................................................
Blackpool are ripe for the picking. Wes will want to play well versus his former club too.
.......................................................

Blackpool haven't won a game and they've only scored 3 goals in 8 in the league.
We're 2nd top and they're 2nd bottom. We have to make that show.
...........................................

I'd be disappointed if we didn't beat these fairly comfortably to be honest, they look to be becoming adept at keeping solid at the back but they are still a very poor team overall. We should be dominating possession and having many more chances than them at least.
With Blackpool having scored just 3 goals in their first 8 games this is one where we really can't afford to concede a sloppy early goal either. If we do concede early again to this bunch then we'd have to ask start asking some serious questions of our defence.
..........................................

Neil Adams:  “We’ve had them (Blackpool) watched quite a lot and the reports we’ve had suggest they are better than those results,” he said. “I’ve spoken to Joe Royle, who has seen them four times I think this season in his various roles, and he said, ‘Look, they have two points, they are down in the relegation zone, but they are better than that.’ Like any team in this division they are more than capable of causing us a problem or two if we let it, as we discovered at Cardiff and for brief spells at Brentford, but we showed when we put our foot to the floor what we are capable of.

That will be the same on Saturday. We know it will be tough and they will be organised and playing for their first victory but we are playing for three points to stay near the top of the table.”

I am well aware they are not getting smashed five or six every week,” said Adams. “For me, it doesn’t hold any fears whether you play the top or the bottom. We’re well aware we won’t be going up there and it’ll be a case of, ‘How many are we going to score?’ We’ll have to earn that right and take care of a team fighting for every point in the same manner as us, albeit for different reasons. They got a respectable draw away from home last week and a lot of people have said that they don’t really deserve the results they’ve had.”

LEAGUE POSITION  23/24

POST MATCH

I'm sorry to say but that was just dire against a terrible side.
If Blackpool are a gauge on where we are then we will be fighting relegation.
..................

I felt like we played like a team that wasn't entirely sure they wanted to score. Blackpool packed their box out time and again and we never, ever, ever have an answer for that. We didn't when west ham did it, not when wigan did it, not when blackpool did it. We don't have the creativity, movement, strength, or determination to break down a well or just moderately disciplined defence - even when they're down to 10 men.
................

Blackpool reminded me of us when we used the championship while at withdean and had no money. They fought hard and got a good point. We did that to many a good championship side. I don't understand why they are so skint though with parachute payments.
...............

Horrible horrible game of football. We made Blackpool look semi competent which is not a good thing.
...........

We showed pretty little today and could easily have been beaten by an odd goal from a relatively poor side. Give them credit though, Blackpool have had some problems but to only let one goal in during the past 3 games is to their credit.
.............

Blackpool were incredibly bad, so at least we are not worse than they are, just about equal.
...............

As a team Blackpool were quite dreadful, spirited but talentless yet they came closer to scoring than we did. Says it all really.
..................

Blackpool's centre halves had Baldock and Colunga in their pockets and had a pretty easy afternoon to be honest.
.................

PRE MATCH

Blackpool have just consistently lost by the odd goal and are no mugs. Expect a tough game. They will look 'rubbish' of course as most consider the opposition are, but I expect them to be pretty effective.

Blackpool will reckon they can win this and nearly will !!!
...................................

We're not great at the moment but Blackpool aren't either. Based on them only losing by the odd goal I'm plumping for 2-1
..........................

On the grounds that Blackpool have only lost by more than 1 goal once this season, and have a well drilled defence, I am going for an optimistic 1-0 win
.........................

Its quite a common occurrence Ex Albion players scoring against us.....as long as we get the 4 first I wouldn't begrudge Orlandi getting on the score sheet
........................

The Blackpool game COULD be a turning point in our season--lose it and we are in trouble--if we are to be there or there abouts at the end of the season we now need to be putting in good performances against every team and especially those deemed to be poorer teams
..........................

Lose to Blackpool though and there should be some difficult questions asked of Hyypia's management credentials.
...........................

I do remember last season ..peeps were expecting a struggling Blackpool side to be thrashed ..1/1 draw ...however a defeat to probably an even weaker side than before would be more than a tad disappointing.... we do need to get that first goal
...........................

Blackpool are by far and away the worst team in the division (Fulham have got problems but they are better than bottom) and almost nailed on for relegation even at this early stage. Not even their manager's fault, they just weren't prepared for the season after finishing last season very badly. Eight players or whatever it was the week before, and you know what's coming.
........................

I doubt Blackpool are going to arrive and play open and attacking football. We will need to be patient and take any chances that come our way.
.......................

Blackpool have let in 10 goals so far this season - the same as us. They haven't lost by more than the odd goal since the 2-0 defeat at Forest on the opening day.
......................

Anyway, we are the absolute masters at ending struggling sides losing streaks, so with Blackpool having lost 6 from 7 including losing all 4 away games scoring only 1 goal.... I will be thoroughly suspicious that something was wrong if we don't go ahead and let them Win.

POST MATCH

Just back - nightmare journey's both ways. Still made it for kick-off, thank goodness.

Funnily enough, most near us thought their penalty was pretty straightforward, they could/should have had another one in injury time.
..................................

I hate Bloomfield road with a passion. Until tonight our record there has been poor. Even when we battered them last yr we lost. 3pts tonight is massive and is a bonus. On paper we should win 3-4 nil but football isn't like that.
They kicked us off the park in 1st half and we came out in 2nd to match them in that department. They gifted us easy ball and that worked for us, we then gifted them easy ball and made the game very scrappy.
We created chances but bpool put the whole team behind the ball and made it very congested. Once we scored we were happy to sit back and bpool deserved there pen. Thankfully they missed.
Defensively we were stronger as a back 4 but struggle at set pieces. But attackively I think we a weaker without the 3-5-2. We now have the pace to get behind teams with parades and anya but they both afraid to overlap and get forward. Anya was afraid to get into the penalty box almost scared too. Against better teams we need to be more positive in getting forward because better teams will defend us very easily.
3pts is a bonus against bpool as it is our bogey ground and we were lucky to get them.
.............................................

Didn't go so can only go on what was being reported. Blackpool maybe one of the poorer teams but they are not being stuffed every week and have only conceded 10 goals which considering they have only 1 point is not that bad. The problem we have is people really think we are going to go to teams like Blackpool and tear them a new one but this league is simply not like that.
......................................

That was always going to be a ******* of a game, so pleased just to win. Riga turned Charlton into a 1-0 winning side & you can see them doing the same.
................................

Last year we were outstanding... and lost. Tonight we were terrible.... and won. Footballs a funny old game, jumpers for goals and all that.
..................................

Just about edged the game but in the end perhaps fortunate to come away with all three points.
...................................

On another day Blackpool could have scored their penalty and got two at the death, meaning we lost 3-1.

We were a long way from convincing or unlucky tonight.
................................

PRE MATCH

We really really should be beating Blackpool. Nile Ranger could cause problems but if we lose this it'll be quite embarrassing.
................................

Blackpool has never been a happy hunting ground for us. We've not won there since 2009, and have only won twice at their place in our entire history.

No one has turned them over, so far this season. All their defeats have been by a single goal, and they finally got their first point on Saturday.

People may think we'll turn them over comfortably, and of course that may well happen, but I do expect another difficult match.
.....................................

We should win this one. Sod's law is we'll gift them their first win. They'll be hungry for it following their draw on the weekend.
...............................

Blackpool are one of those teams I always expect us to lose against. We just don't seem to have much luck against them.

The fact a friend is a 'pool fan and gives me **** about it just makes it worse.
...........................

Lets be honest, if we want promotion we should be able to beat Blackpool with our 'second' team that would be warming the bench if allowed.
.......................................

A friend of mine is a Wolves fan.
He expected to put 4 or 5 past Blackpool on Saturday but said they were a decent side on the day.
They defend very well , so not expecting too much.
......................................

Blackpool got a point against a good Wolves side so make no mistake , it will be a difficult fixture. The home crowd will be behind the Manager, if not the owner , and this will add a bit of spice to the game .
.......................................

Lets not under-estimate Blackpool, and lets remain humble. Under Malky and Sean the likes of Leicester, Leeds, Cardiff etc would have considered us a 'crap' team.

We have to earn the right to beat any team in this division every game. Just because we play good football, have great players and score more goals than almost anyone does not give us a divine right to win.

LEAGUE POSITION  23/24

POST MATCH

I know people will moan about not beating a team like Blackpool but after international breaks we never tend to (or at least seem) well so I'll take a clean sheet and a point away from home.
..............................

Disappointing draw because they will be very near the bottom come May, but I suppose a point isn't too bad.
..............................

People are being very disrespectful towards Blackpool. They aren't going to keep losing forever and they've had two weeks together.  Never grumble at a point away.
............................

I thought they at times looked more capable and played the better football individually and collectively.....certainly didn't look like a team in disarray at all.
...........................

Blackpool scrapped for everything and earned a good point.
............................

Credit to Blackpool they have everything for their manager, what they lacked in ability they more than made up for in desire.
...........................

First game where we didn't deserve to win based on performance...hell, if anything Blackpool should have won that from the two chances they buggered up!
...................................

Kenny Jackett:

“Blackpool always kept two up front to make sure that they had a threat and we know about Nile Ranger from last season – this was his first start of this season and he was a real handful and our centre halves did well to deal with him."

The first goal is always a big thing and we were looking for that but Blackpool defended well and it didn’t come. Then in the second half they had a couple of good chances and situations in the box although we had the same as well at the other end.

The glass is either half full or half empty. With the domination we had at times and some of the football we played I was looking for more but congratulations to Blackpool who played with fantastic spirit.

They have drawn the game 0-0 and been applauded off. The supporters were right behind the players today and right behind the manager and you could see that in the spirit that the players showed.

They could drop off and let us have the ball and didn’t try to impose themselves on us too much but showed fantastic spirit in their defending and good heart.

We couldn’t really get through and pull their back four around and that’s a credit to them and the way they defended and the spirit they showed as a side."

So overall I felt that Blackpool deserved a draw and for all our good passing and commitment we didn’t create enough chances.”

PRE MATCH

In years gone by, the combination of Blackpool having not won a game and a new Manager (previously linked with Wolves) being installed would have filled me with dread for this fixture. Now, I just feel confident that we are a superior side and will will pick up another (hard-fought) three points.
................................................

Oyston family make the Bhattis look like amateurs. Absolute scum
..................................

We should beat these with our youth team, so it's probably not worth risking Sako or Dicko from the start.
..........................................

They have only lost by the odd goal in each game so they will be no pushovers. I've not predicted Wolves to win a league game yet this season and I'm not changing that for this fixture.
..............................................

Apparently Riga took training yesterday according to reports, and their Chairman is still reportedly thinking about sacking him for unprofessional conduct (buggering off to Belgium as Deutsch said). Probably depends on whether he can cut a deal with Coyle or not. They are an unhappy camp at the moment and I'm sure they will not be looking forward to playing us on Saturday.
.............................................

I suspect this result might not be quite as easy as it would appear on current form. However, I can only see one result and look forward to watching us win.
............................................

We'll pass them off the park - I can see 2-0 or 3-0.
........................................

Past seasons I would suspect this to be a bit of a banana skin. The manager has just won MOTM, we're consistently playing teams off the park and next match is against bottom of the league. Usually, this would be a game Wolves would take for granted and lose. However, this time I don't think it's going to happen.
........................................

Blackpool are currently going down the plughole both on and off the pitch, so to speak, so I think Wolves will win this one easily
...................................

Sounds a right shambles at Blackpool. Their clown chairman, Oyston, slating current manager Riga in the local press. Riga still in charge and despite this Oyston approaches Rowett, Burton Manager, who turns the job down!
The local paper in Blackpool now slating Oyston. To say their fans are $$$$ed off is an understatement! I feel sorry for them. Their chairman is a joke.
............................

I wonder whether Blackpool would give us anymore, as 2200 isn't the whole of that side is it? and is woefully inadequate ! and their gates are falling and the owner is a moneygrabber.
Wolves should at least ask the question. Failing that, there are plenty of West Midlands boarding house owners in Blackpool that should be able to supply, I know one for instance. You are usually able to pay on the gate but the police will likely insist on restrictions due to our history. There will be loads going without tickets, mark my words.
..................................

Memories of the '70s. I sometimes used to take a minibus to away games, especially anywhere near Blackpool, so a weekend away starting on Friday night. I think it was the Bolton match when we were already promoted.

So a big night out in Blackpool. At the end of the night we were confronted in a car park by a gang of Blackpool fans, thinking we were Southampton fans, who they had played that day(we were not wearing colours at that time). Despite our explanations a huge fight ensued. At the end of it one of the Blackpool guys was unconscious on the floor and the rest had made a run for it (I am not glorifying it this is purely factual). We were all standing over him wondering what to do when a police car rolled up. When the cops got out, quick as a flash, one of the guys said we had seen him being beaten up and chased them off. The cops accepted that and just put him in the back of the car and drove off. That's just a taste of '70s away games with The Wolves guys. There was an awful lot worse than that.
......................................
The First time I went to a Wolves game in Blackpool was 30th October 1976, I was 19, I went with a load of mates in cars and in the morning we went for a drink in Diamond Lils, which was in the Fairground. I remember going for a defecation and whilst so engaged , heard some Blackpool fans stating how they were going to knife a Wolves fan ! better than ex-lax !

I remember the ground and the thousands of Wolves fans queuing to get in, estimates range up-to 11,000. The gate was 21005, Blackpool's highest of the season. The atmosphere was electric. The teams were taken off the pitch due to crowd trouble and at half-time I recall the back of the Kop stand being kicked in and Police horses on the terrace. The game finished 2-2 with a fantastic header from Frankie Munro ! at the end of the game , we had to meet the girls we had travelled up with and arranged to meet at the tower, as we were walking there we were set upon by a gang of Blackpool fans and in the subsequent melee ended up in a shop front. We spent the evening in Blackpool and all in all a great day!
