LEAGUE POSITION  24/24

POST-MATCH

Three points from what could have been difficult with a new manager arriving. Ipswich were the better team, Blackpool showed individual flashes but our passing and movement won the day. Good pie and pint afterwards with Blackpool fans - they are good sporting folks.
................................................

It has to be said we'd have looked pretty silly with anything less than a win. Blackpool couldn't beat themselves at the moment.
..............................................

Great result but what an atrocious game of football, we did a job but Blackpool were terrible, seems like it's been back to basics with Mick going back into his comfort zone. We'll take what could've been a difficult game but it wasn't a good performance, it's an entertainment business and that certainly wasn't!!
...................................

We needed the win and I was really pleased with the 3 points but tbh I was disgusted with the quality of football from both sides!!
....................

Mick McCarthy:

I pointed out to the squad before hand, in our team meeting that we always have, that Blackpool have good players. They have two strikers in (Nile) Ranger and (Ishmael) Miller who are a proper handful, (Nathan) Delfouneso... There are lots of them who have been places. (Joan) Oriol’s a good little footballer. They are no mugs.

There are a lot of players there who have been drawn together at the start of this season and that doesn’t make it easy, but they have some individual talents there and I think that showed at times today.

[Asked if his side had been in a bit of a no-win position, going to a team that they were expected to beat, the Blues boss replied:]

“B******s, there’s no such thing. We’ve just won and got three points. I kind of know what you mean, but who thinks Ipswich are that good that we can just breeze up here and beat Blackpool? Not a chance. We’ve had to really put a shift in there. That has been a hard game.”

PRE-MATCH

New manager or no new manager we really need a positive result in this one, at the VERY least a point. Blackpool are in disarray and one win in 14 games says it all, they have accrued 6 points and the leading scorer has 2 goals !!!!! Lee Clark is no miracle worker that much I do know.
..................................

If a side like Blackpool arent there for the taking, then i dont know what kind of side will be!

Awful squad and awful manager coming in,who will barely have had a chance to work with the players.
...................................

We've got no chance in this one I'm afraid. Team with new manager and us being on one of our standard poor runs makes for a defeat. We'll have to wait for a home game to finally get a win.
........................................

Stephen Hunt:

My celebration (a goal celebration a year ago which was primarily aimed at Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston) was just a matter of letting all my emotions out. For them to do what they did to me was disrespectful to a professional footballer. We had agreed a deal before I turned up and I said I would do a two-day medical.

My agent travelled from London to complete the deal and then when he got there the chairman tried to swivel the deal around, just because he wanted to. We walked, mainly out of principle. It was horrendous.

New manager, it’s an absolute nightmare. You’d rather still have the former manager in charge and the chairman moaning, I suppose. The new manager will probably do exactly the same as Ian Holloway did at Millwall last season, clapping the whole ground like a Messiah when he turned up for his first home game in charge and they went on to beat us.

We have to kill all that early on and make sure we don’t concede an early goal. The new manager might not be able to lift the morale but he could lift the performance on a first game basis.

With where they are in the league – they are pretty isolated at the bottom and seven points from safety – they will be thinking this is a must-win game for them.”
.........................................

Mick McCarthy:

"Their new manager will have seen the response I got at Birmingham two years ago and I guess he’ll be looking for the same sort of response I got. Let’s hope he doesn’t.

The players you pick for your first game, that gives them a boost. They’ll run around and give that little bit extra. It’s maybe made it that little bit tougher for us.

I’ve been watching the Blackpool games and they’re no mugs by any stretch of the imagination.”

POST MATCH

A win at last, hardly convincing though. We needed a goalkeeping howler, an own goal and a penalty to beat the bottom team. But, as the old saying goes, a win is a win, no matter how it was gained.
...............................

I pity those poor b@stards that travelled from Blackpool to watch that. Fair play to them as I couldn't stomach it in their position.

Can see them freefalling out of the football league completely.

One of the poorest games I've seen in years.
...............................

Dreadful game, Blackpool will go down, their keeper was terrible.
..............................

How shit were Blackpool?
At least we're not that shit.
.........................

Not convinced today. Goalkeeper errors and penalty for our goals. Blackpool could've scored two (at least).
............................

Blackpool's biggest loss of the season and we should have scored more.
.............................

Don't get too carried away, we played a team who are sitting rock bottom of the table and it showed! Hopefully though it might boost our confidence a bit!
.................................

PRE-MATCH

I think this is a critical game for us as a club, and Adkins as manager. From what I've seen recently I can see us handing victory to Blackpool. Derby, who thrashed us at home, only managed a 1-0 over them last night.
...........................................

I think this is the game where we find out if the players are playing for Adkins, if they want to win I'm sure they will, if they want Adkins gone then we'll probably lose.
...................................................

I'd say this has draw written all over it, but Blackpool really are the team NA wants to face right now.
...................................................

The sort of change that's required is defensive and I'm not sure you can justify trying stop the rot by playing defensively against a team that is such a shambles (Blackpool that is) so I wouldn't be surprised to see us make few changes, play for a win and get done.
.....................................................

Very difficult to predict this one, we are conceding for fun but they struggle to score. The form we are in its the sort of game where you could expect them to take their first away win of the season, or perhaps a 0-0 bore draw.

But on paper we really should be beating them, and we seriously need to. We could do with hammering them with a clean sheet for our confidence. Can't really see that though but I'm going to be positive
..........................................................

A sizeable minority of the crowd will arrive with an extremely negative attitude towards the manager and players, almost hoping to be proved right by a defeat at the hands of Blackpool.

The more sensible majority will be very nervous and these nerves will be passed onto the team who will already be edgy due to the amount of abuse received from the negative minority the moment someone made a mistake.

As a consequence, it will be an extremely edgy affair with a high risk that Blackpool will capitalise on the atmosphere and nick three points through a very lucky goal and some bus parking.

...........................................................

Adam Federici:

Blackpool will look at our recent form and come to us hoping for three points. It’ll be a tough game, there are no easy games in the Championship. They’ll be looking at the game and happy they’ve got us, and we’ll be the same.

POST MATCH

Blackpool might have a team full of odds and sods brought in from here there and everywhere but tonight they showed Cardiff City Football Club what heart, desire, the will to win, attitude, togetherness and fight are all about. I for one salute them tonight, City are a disgrace on and off the pitch
.................

Poor very poor - both sides, a draw would have been fairer but just 2 shots on target for both sides is not good.
................

Team spirit, fight and plenty of effort won that game, really disappointed with our mob.
..................

What Cardiff City lack. Blackpool have in abundance. Desire
.............................

You could tell by the players' body language that they were disinterested and not up fot it, I suppose that they felt that they only had to turn up to collect the 3 points against a relegation outfit and sadly that's what Blackpool are.
.....................

I said to my mate their first win will be against us tonight, it was always on the cards. They flew up to the game. They've got state of the art training facilites. What they haven't got is hunger and desire, the fans deserve better than to be mugged off by those bunch of losers,
.................

Blackpool looked like scoring every time they got anywhere near our box, the opposite can be said of our lot.
..................

When are we going to put in a good performance over 90 minutes? Miller ran us ragged.
...............

That Fabio tackle - we were lucky not to concede a penalty with no contact with the ball at all. Marshall could also have gone for handling outside the area.
.................

How we're crying out for players like the blonde guy, Perkins ? in midfield for Blackpool, he was awesome, and should have had motm by a mile.
.................

It was a shocking performance from the team and unfortunately it really looked like there was more desire from the Blackpool players than City's.
................

Someone on twitter has just said, at a point this pre-season Cardiff City had spent £15million and Blackpool had an eight player squad.
...............

Yes , we played the worst side in the league who were better than us over 90. We're looked ok for the last 15 mins although they should have killed the game . We were shit
